Certis Solutions is looking for a Construction QA Technician. This consultant can either work out of the Granite Bay or Grass Valley office, although he or she will be traveling to project sites more of than not. 40 hour HAZWOPER is important.


The Construction Quality Assurance Technician will provide field observation, testing, and documentation for soils and geosynthetics installation projects at landfills, mine sites, public works construction sites, and other similar project sites. The work shall include, but not be limited to:

§ Soil sampling

§ Field compaction testing (nuclear density, sand cone, drive-ring methods)

§ Field permeability testing (BAT™, Boutwell™ permeameters)

§ Moisture-density curves

§ Field moisture content

§ Observation and documentation of geosynthetic materials installation (geomembranes/flexible membrane liners, geotextiles, geosynthetic clay liners, etc.)

§ Using GPS equipment to document test locations

§ Documenting contractor work

§ Assistance preparing construction completion reports

Position requirements include:

§ Experience providing construction quality assurance services

§ Working understanding of civil and/or geotechnical design, and a background in earthwork construction, including the ability to read and understand technical civil design drawings

§ United States Citizen or legal residency

§ Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record for business travel

Preferred skills include:

§ Soils and/or geosynthetics testing certification

§ OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour annual HAZWOPER training

§ MSHA training

§ Bachelor‘s degree in physical science, environmental studies, or a related field

Candidate will be expected to work away from home on a regular basis.  Work will include daily travel, working at remote sites, and interaction with team members, clients, contractors, and the general public. Candidate will regularly work at municipal solid waste disposal sites, hazardous waste sites, and mine sites. The Candidate must be in good health, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
